Data Programmer

Are you a highly skilled Database Programmer? Then you might be the one! Working within the Data Execution team, the Database Programmer collaborates with internal and external partners to obtain source data and then proficiently scrub and reconfigure the data according to written specifications, to deliver high quality, usable information that acts as the foundation for large scale fundraising campaigns for charitable organizations via direct mail, email, and more. Their eye for detail during a busy, multi-project environment allows them to act as a trusted partner on client projects.
Must Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or comparable experience in a related field
- 2-5 years’ experience in database programming (SQL Server / T-SQL preferred)
- Proven ability to successfully work in an environment where attention to detail is critical
- Experience in delivering on multiple projects in a timely manner
- Collaborative team player, problem solver, extremely well organized and detail-oriented
Assets
- Strong written & oral communication skills
- Exposure to marketing or fundraising agency work
- Experience with merge/purge software
- Exposure to ETL automation using SSIS or similar
- Software development / maintenance experience using C#
Responsibilities
- Complex data processing using SQL Server
- Manipulating data from a variety of sources and formats (SQL, csv, txt, Excel, etc.)
- Delivering on multiple projects in a timely manner
- Performing segmentation of incoming data based on provided specifications
- Cleanup of clients lists with deduping and merge/purge
- Performing custom programming to prepare clean data for mail & email campaigns
- Managing interactions with our lettershop & digital partners to ensure that final data meets required standards
- Working directly with our internal teams and clients
- Performing quality control checks on each project to ensure accuracy
- Proactively adhere to given deadlines, production estimates and client guidelines in completing all projects
- Writing detailed data instructions for and reviewing outcome from outside data vendors
- Preparing and providing final reporting including mailed records and counts to clients in a timely manner

Salary Range: The starting salary range for this position is $50,000 – $70,000 commensurate with experience. In addition, a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental and vision care, 3 weeks’ vacation plus an additional 9.5 Blakely days off (half day Fridays
before each long weekend and the office is closed for one week at the end of December each year).
Location: This is a location-flexible work from home position, within Canada. Maintaining a good working relationship is key to success, so we gather our entire team together 3 – 4 times a year in Aurora, ON. There will be department meetings or 1 on 1 meetings with your manager in
person required throughout the year. For those that live 150KMs or more away from Aurora, ON we cover all travel expenses in line with Blakely’s travel policy. In addition, if you are in a client facing role, there will be in person client meetings required, dependent on the client and Blakely needs, with reimbursement for travel based on Blakely’s travel policy.
